Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Detroit Medical Center are pleased to initiate fundraising activity for endowed faculty positions in the Section of Transplant Surgery within the Department of Surgery.
Endowed faculty positions are vital to academic medicine. They provide consistent research funding for supporting outstanding clinicians and scientists recruited from around the country, and provide busy clinicians with the opportunity to devote the time and effort necessary to administratively and scientifically ensure program growth. In short, endowments are the solid foundation upon which to initiate and expand successful, cutting-edge clinical and research programs.
The concept of endowment enables a donor to give in perpetuity with the assurance that the endowed program will continue to fulfill its purpose. In an endowed fund, the corpus of the donated monies is not touched, and only the interest from the corpus is used each year.
