Did you know?
According to the Society of Interventional Radiology, approximately 700,000 vertebral fractures occur each year - usually in women over the age of 60. But interventional radiologists are leading the way in developing new minimally invasive treatments for the pain of spinal fractures.

Spinal Cord and Spine Vascular Lesions

Spinal cord arteriovenous malformations (SAVMs) and spinal dural arteriovenous malformations or fistulas (SDAVMs) are abnormal connections between arteries and veins that occur within the spinal cord or in its coverings or linings (dura). These malformations can result in a loss of spinal cord function or hemorrhage.

With an endovascular approach and advanced imaging technology, the interventional neuroradiology team at Harper University Hospital can use embolization (the intentional closing of a blood vessel) to treat the condition.
