THE HANDY SHOP

In 1931, when the depression started, it was decided to open a gift shop to support all the new activities that had been started in the previous ten years. It was obvious that all these projects would take much money to maintain them, especially the hospital room for sick nurses. It took a couple of years to start making money, but by 1933, funds from the shop were set aside for investment in what was called the Endowed Bed Fund. This fund has ceased to exist after the room was no longer used.
