North America's Third Largest MS Clinic
Whether they are developing innovative, high–resolution imaging techniques,
conducting clinical trials of new drug therapies or undertaking new studies to
understand the pathogenesis and genetics of multiple sclerosis, the physician
researchers at Harper University Hospital and Wayne State University are
advancing the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) and other demyelinating
diseases of the central nervous system.
Together, these experts staff the third largest MS clinic in North America –
providing care for more than 3,500 patients in southeastern Michigan. And, with
more than 500 African American patients, the clinic is home to the world's
largest study of African Americans with the disease.
A commitment to clinical and basic research means patients benefit from the
latest knowledge and innovations. And, with two dedicated MRI machines –
including a high–resolution, 4 Tesla MRI and a 1.5 Tesla high-resolution magnet
– Harper patients always have access to the most advanced imaging and research
technology.
In addition, Harper physicians have considerable experience in evaluation and
management of patients with neurological manifestation of other autoimmune
diseases.
