Dr. Eltahawy is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in neurosurgical pain management and functional neurosurgery. He has a special interest in deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease and for other movement disorders such as tremor and dystonia.

As a specialist in functional neurosurgery, his areas of interest also include vagal nerve stimulation for intractable epilepsy, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorders; spinal and motor cortex stimulation for intractable back and facial pain syndromes; and intrathecal drug delivery for pain and spasticity syndromes. He works with a multi-disciplinary team of experts at Harper University Hospital to deliver state-of-the-art care for movement disorders.

Dr. Eltahawy serves as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Association of Neurosurgeons and has authored and co-authored book chapters, journal articles, and abstracts on various neurosurgical topics.
