Hours vary: minimum 40 per week on duty, possible fifty in some services, ranging between 5:00 a.m., and 10:00 p.m. Starting times vary from day to day. Usual hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 2 days off per week.
- Some contact with actual food preparation for public.
- Walks or stands 6 to 8 hours per day.
- Meal hours vary from day to day.
- Additional homework assignments over and above the on-duty time.
- Applicant is an acceptable role model for clients when instructing clients regarding their nutritional status and needs.
You will be required to pass the hospital physical when you start the internship. It may be advisable to inform your physician of the above work requirements to help your physician determine your ability to take part in the program. If you are being treated for a permanent medical condition, then a statement from your personal physician will help expedite your physical results here. This should be brought with you at your physical. Also, bring a record of immunization shots.
