Harper University Hospital is in the heart of the city, minutes from downtown Detroit, and is conveniently located just blocks from all major freeways.
For the dietetic intern, the City of Detroit has a wide array of activities available: professional and college sports of all types, including hydroplane races; a variety of metro parks with numerous winter and summer recreational facilities. (Amusement parks are also available in season.) Five major shopping malls, less than one hour drive via freeways are readily accessible.
Professional sports at Comerica Park, Ford Field and Joe Louis Arena (Hockeytown) are a short distance from the Medical Center
College, local and professional theater, as well as the symphony, opera, ballet, pop and rock concerts offer a variety of entertainment opportunities. Several outdoor concert facilities are available in the summer months.
There is a fitness facility nearby at Wayne State University campus.
In addition, one finds world renowned Greenfield Village and Museum a real treat, along with the Detroit Institute of Art, Historical Museum and The Detroit Zoo.
We are situated less than twenty minutes from the border of Windsor, Ontario Canada. A birth certificate is required for border crossing. Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan are about forty-five minutes away.
Easy driving weekend trips, one can include: scenic northern Michigan towns such as Traverse City, Mackinaw and Sault Ste. Marie; other places of interest would be Chicago, Niagara Falls, Cleveland, Toronto.
Very near the hospital is the Renaissance Center and Hart Plaza with ethnic and jazz festivals during the summer months. Greek Town, Trappers Alley, Cobo Hall, Joe Louis Arena and Eastern Market are also in this vicinity.
