Dr. Li completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Houston. A very active member of the Wayne State University School of Medicine cardiology research program, Dr. Li’s project entitled “Transcriptional control of the SM22 promoter during cardiovascular development” is funded by an NIH grant. Dr. Li’s research has been featured on the cover of the Journal of Cell Biology and on the cover of Science. Her research involves the molecular determinants of vascular smooth muscle development. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Her research partnership with clinical cardiologists assists in development of new therapy for vascular disease.
