Fareed Khaja, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Khaja is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. His major clinical activities include angioplasty and interventional cardiology. His research interests include cardiac physiology, primary and secondary pulmonary hypertension, pathophysiology of coronary artery disease, thrombolytics and interventional cardiology. He has published 90 articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented more than 160 papers at scientific meetings. Dr. Khaja graduated from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India in 1961 and later completed his residency training at Long Island Division of Boston City Hospital and Harvard Medical Service of Boston City Hospital in Boston, Mass. He continued there as a fellow in Cardiology at Thorndike Memorial Laboratory, Harvard Medical Services through the years of 1966 to 68. Following that, Dr. Khaja was a Research Associate in cardiology at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario for two and half years where he obtained a fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. He is currently a Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University and consulting cardiologist at Detroit Medical Center. He was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award of 2003 by the American Heart Association of Michigan.
