Fellowship trained
in cardiology and interventional cardiology, Mahir D. Elder, M.D., has performed
many diagnostic cardiac catheterizations as well as other interventions,
including peripheral interventions.
He is experienced in the newest interventional modalities, including laser
treatment, directional atherectomy of lower extremities, intravascular
ultrasound (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR), cutting balloons, angiojet,
rotablation, and intra-aortic balloon pump.
His non-invasive expertise includes performing a significant number of 2D
transthoracic, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), including intraoperative
TEEs, Dobutamine stress echocardiograms and nuclear cardiology studies.
As a researcher, he has been involved in clinical trials of pharmaceutical
therapies as well as bench research. His work has been published in medical
journals and presented at cardiology conferences.
Dr. Elder is a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and
Interventions; the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography; the American
Society of Nuclear Cardiology; the American Society of Echocardiography; the
American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians and the
American Heart Association.
