Steve E. Cala, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor

Dr. Cala received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Purdue University, an M.S. degree in chemistry from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Indiana University School of Medicine. He serves as an Assistant Professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine Division of Cardiology research laboratories where he is involved in research on regulatory membrane proteins in cardiac muscle cells and molecular mechanisms of calcium release. His current research is focused on changes in the calcium release organelle in heart failure as well as its formation in normal heart cells. His basic research on heart failure assists clinical cardiologists in developing new therapies for patients with heart failure.
