John D. Webber, M.D., FACS
Director, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Wayne State University

Dr. Webber is board certified in General Surgery and specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Dr. Webber is one of the early pioneers who brought laparoscopic surgery to Southeastern Michigan. He has been performing laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery for over five years and has one of the largest experience bases in Michigan. He serves as Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine.

He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), Association for Academic Surgery (AAS), Wayne State Surgical Society, Detroit Surgical Society, and is Assistant Professor of Surgery, Wayne State University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Webber is a member of the Great Lakes Weight Loss physician team.

Dr. Webber has authored many articles on the effects of laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery and has other areas of clinical interest include breast cancer and breast surgery, photodynamic therapy, gastrointestinal surgery and endoscopy.
